The Little Baby Jesus: An Apology
I am sorry to have to say that I have been far too disorganised to send out any seasonal cards or emails this year. In my defence it has been a really crappy year and, thanks to the leap second, a long one too. The safest thing to do seems to be to avoid any unnecessary motion that might prolong it any further due to relativistic time dilation.
Nonetheless it probably does behove me to assert that I am not dead, but not to go so far as to prove it by singing. There are no winners in that game. With this in mind, let me wish you all seasons greetings and leave the singing to somebody who knows what they are doing.

Jobsearch 2010 Is Over
Hooray! I have just been offered a job, which I have accepted!
I am Web Monkey
I have now taken over responsibility for all my Dad’s websites. After a frantic period of getting access to his various logins and accounts I have finally got everything consolidated onto one server. I still need to clean up some of his other old hosting, so that Googlers only find the latest versions, and hunt down the last few dead links, but it is going OK. It is all very Web 1.0, which is just how I like it.

Zut alors! Les Français sont confondus
I just found a Facebook group, in French, with my name on it. Of course, it isn’t about me. Rigal is a fairly common name in France and it seems to be about a teacher or professor called Daniel Rigal. I think it is just his students messing about. I translated the page with Google Translate but it made less than no sense.
Despite not being about me, it has a link to my homepage on it! Goodness knows why. Clearly the French are very confused. Mind you, so are most of the denizens of Facebook. That’s why I normally avoid it. (more…)
Server Room Consolidation Pictures
Shortly before I left Jai Kudo they moved office from Hill House in London to Centennial Park in Elstree. The new building had no network infrastructure at all. This forced a shift from reusing existing chunks infrastructure left by previous companies to installing a coherent network of their own. I was heavily involved in specifying that network and building the new server room. Here are some before and after pictures.

Looking for a job
I finished at Jai Kudo a couple of days ago and am now looking for a job. Jai Kudo had moved from Archway to Elstree and the travel was killing me.
