The Stench of Death

Before I start ranting, let me be very clear that this is just an uncorroborated rumour at this stage.

And with that we proceed to the rant…

This had better just be some vicious little wank fantasy. The death penalty is an absolute moral evil! If the Government were to bring this forward, even if it were defeated, then any possible path to redemption for the UK would have to include the abolition and proscription of the Tory Party.

The tragic thing is that I can see it being relatively easy for our disgusting tabloid press to whip up support for such a proposal. Such support would last right up until the inevitable first execution of an innocent person. And then… Well, there is no way back from that, is there? Only once the whole nation had innocent blood on its hands would we realise what we had done and what we had become. At that point it wouldn’t just be the Tories who would have lost all moral integrity. We would all be guilty. The nation itself would be damned.

We need every person who still remembers what civilisation, morality and decency is to be ready to oppose this, should it turn out to be true that such a proposal is being prepared. Every political, legal, medical, religious and charitable organisation, both within the UK and internationally, needs to speak with one voice and say “No!”

This needs to start with the Civil Service itself. If anybody really has been tasked to put together a serious proposal then they need to seek immediate legal advice on extricating themselves from personal complicity in this.

If a proposal to restore the death penalty in the UK were brought forward, we would need:

  • A ruling from the ECHR declaring the proposal illegal
  • EU states to threaten full trade sanctions
  • All legal and medical professional bodies to permanently disbar or strike off any person who participates in the planning, administration or implementation of the death penalty
  • The Church of England to threaten to disestablish itself and for all Churches to deny Communion to any MP or Peer voting to restore the death penalty or any person who participates in the administration or implementation of the death penalty

As I said before, this had better just be some vicious little wank fantasy.

It had better go no further than this!
