Cheapskate Tip #1

Decent Steak for £1

Buy boneless joints of meat when they are half price. Cut them into steaks and freeze them in individual bags. For beef: silverside, topside or toprump all make good steaks so long as you are careful not to overcook them. Brisket is no good as it is too tough. Choose a piece with a fairly regular shape to make it easier to cut into steaks of uniform size. Use a sharp carving knife and maybe kitchen scissors to finish.
